A fundraiser for the San Francisco-based hair salon who’s owner says she needs to relocate her business after releasing video of a maskless House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has reached its goal of $300,000, the salon owner announced.
Speaking to Fox News Monday, a tearful Erica Kious thanked those who donated to a GoFundMe page in her honor amid her feud with Pelosi (D-Calif.).
“I wish I could personally thank every person who sent me their prayers, words of encouragement and support, especially at a time when so many are struggling to make ends meet in their own lives,” Kious said before adding thanks to her family and friends for supporting her.
“I am very humbled and grateful to have received such an outpouring of kindness, empathy and generosity from people I don’t even know, and from all walks of life and all sides of the political spectrum. It’s a powerful reminder that the common things that bind us all together as Americans are far more meaningful and lasting than political and ideological differences that get so much attention and focus,” she continued.
The fundraiser was set up for Kious when she came forward saying she was the target of threats and would need to move her business after releasing video of Pelosi breaking local ordinances related to coronavirus in her salon.
“Erica Kious, a single mother of two and owner of eSalon, where House Speaker Nancy Pelosi got her hair done on Monday, is now being forced to shut down and relocate her business and family due to outrage and threats she is receiving,” the GoFundMe page read.
Kious released video of Pelosi walking around her business bare-faced, sparking charges of hypocrisy amid her continuous calls to wear masks to protect others from the coronavirus pandemic.
Kious said she rents out chairs to independent stylists and claimed she did not leak the video for “political” reasons.
“Hairstylists and other small business owners in San Francisco and elsewhere are doing what they need to do to survive,” Kious said in a virtual news conference last week.
Pelosi, meanwhile, has accused Kious of a “set up.”
